Markham is seen as a technology hub, but this city also has some great culture. The Markham Flato Theatre is the crowning jewel of Markham’s performing arts scene. It has a 527-seat auditorium and puts on over 300 live performances each year. With both home-grown Canadian talent and international artists showcasing their best, Markham’s Flato Theatre entertains while showcasing the cultural diversity of the City of Markham. Located at Hwy #7 and Warden, the formerly-named Markham Theatre also boasts a large lobby, multi-use spaces, lounges, catering and bar services for any event.
For the Kids
There are shows all year long at the theatre and kids take priority at this innovative theatre. The Flato Theatre offers a Discovery Program for students of all grades as part of an Educational Outreach Program, with tickets being only $10. As well, they have an Every Child, Every Year program that offers free admission to grades 1 to 3 students in Markham schools once a year.
Performances
Performances aren’t just tailored to kids, although many are family-friendly events. Some of the upcoming performances include:

Local Talent
The Unionville Theatre Company is a people’s theatre company that puts on one major musical a year at the Flato Theatre, in February. They recently put on their highly-acclaimed The Little Mermaid show and next year is bound to be just as great!

Voted #6 of all things to do in Markham on TripAdvisor, reviewers love that there isn’t truly a bad seat in the house and that the prices for tickets are always reasonable. The view and the sound both make the performances that much more memorable at the Flato Theatre. From concerts to comedy to dance to musicals, there really is something for everyone at this theatre in Markham. What’s also great about the Flato Theatre is that parking is free and you don’t have to contend with Toronto traffic to see a great performance.
